Well, I'm exhausted--it's been a long, busy day. We were up at 7:30 this morning (yes, I can do it if I have good reason). Ate breakfast and headed into South Padre Island. We stopped at Port Isabel and found two geos. Headed across the causeway and picked up one more at the north end of SPI. Larry saw some kites flying, so we stopped and he flew both of his. There were about a dozen others also flying. We found a nice place for a quick lunch and headed for the Osprey Fishing Dock.
We were only in the bay, fortunately, because it was very windy and the bay was choppy. The Gulf would have been very rough. This picture of SPI is from the very south end just before you go from the bay into the Gulf - looking north. There were about 20 people out on the Bay King fishing boat and as soon as we dropped the line we all had bites. We were fishing with cut squid and fishing on the bottom. Larry and I ended up with 16 Grunts (whatever those are). Some were catching trout, one flounder (too little) and one whiting. Everyone caught Grunts and we all had a good time. They even cleaned them into fillets for us. This was a 2 to 5:00 trip. Waited around to get them cleaned and headed out to pick up two more geos. The only one I pictured here was the statue at the very south tip of SPI. It's dedicated to all those who ventured from the bay and didn't return. We leave for Mission, TX in the morning.
Lynn is the fisher person in the family and Larry goes along for the ride. Larry likes to eat and people watch. He's also seen regularly walking the cat, Buster. We're retired since Dec. 1st and so far enjoying it very much. We are unemployed and homeless - not something we thought we would ever brag about.
