June 1: Last day on Tenkiller Ferry Lake

Yesterday, Larry's brother Dean and his wife, Lethia, came out for a picnic and to play on the jet ski. Lethia has been on them before but this was a first for Dean. I had zoomed in to get a picture of them zooming by but Dean decided to stand up and wave his hat in the air. I snapped a shot but buy the time I zoomed out and refocused, the moment had passed. However, you'll see that little bit of bravado ended in upsetting the ski. Only picture I've been able to get of someone off the jet ski. Thanks Dean.

We then had BBQ pork chops and hamburgers. Great time and good food with fun people.

Got another picture of the babies swimming by - we'll miss watching them and their antics along the shore line. Larry will have to find new ducks and geese to feed at the next lake.

There was quite a storm that blew thru here today around the lunch hour. It reminded me of that movie "On The Beach" where they all sat around waiting for the nuculear storm cloud to hit their area knowing they would all die when it did. Larry and I cleaned up camp but then sat around waiting for the 70+ MPH winds and the golf ball size hail to hit. We actually ended up getting some high winds, no hail and some rain. Now it's beautiful. Amazing how that works.

We went for a walk to the top of a hill that we walk around here in the camp ground because I like trying to suck in oxygen when there is none. We saw a whitetail deer dart off down the hillside (once my vision was restored from a lack of oxygen). About 15' later I saw the twin fawns laying in the trees. They looked at us for only a short time before they headed down the hill to join mom. Guess they figured their little spots weren't working so well if we were eye balling each other.

Today is our last day here; tomorrow we head for Lake Ouchita at the west end of Hot Springs, Arkansas. This lake is 40,000 acres - compared to Cheney Lake which is 9,600 acres. Ouchita also has some kind of geo floating trail that you can pick up a brochure and boat along a guided trail. I don't know that we'll be able to do all of it but we'll probably try for the part that's in our area. We're also taking the back roads to the lake so don't know how long that will take but I'm sure it will be pretty.
