April 7: Wild flowers

This afternoon we went to the Wild Seed Farm east of Fredericksburg. We were early in the season to see vast fields of blooming wildflowers, but you could see where they will be. There was one huge field of poppies that was gorgeous. The farm is actually a garden center that grows wild flowers and sells the seeds. They also had a huge gift shop and a small deli. Larry got some more chocolate and we both got some soft peach ice cream. We're BBQ'ing tonight so didn't want to pig out on sandwiches.

An
yway, the flowers were beautiful and I didn't even take all of the pictures that I could have. There were cactus of every shape and color - some real, some metal sculptures. Several different roses and a whole herb section that smelled really nice. Lots of containers to choose from. The Texas Blue Bonnet is blooming everywhere. It seems to come up wherever a seed may land.

Tonight, we dine and then sit back and cheer for KU. The Lady Vols did their job last night and they'll have their hands full with Stanford on Tuesday. Hopefully, Pat Summit will go on for another championship.

Tomorrow, we're going back to the downtown area and see a few other things that we've not gotten to yet. There are a couple of geo's we want to pick up in town. Probably eat at the big German restaurant at the west end of town. And it's been suggested to check out the main German bakery downtown. It's a rough job, but we'll force ourselves to make that investigation. They're predicting storms here Wednesday so we're going to the Museum of the Pacific War. Then either Thursday or Friday we'll head to the LBJ ranch for the day.

That's the German resturant we ate at. Lethia had the Rolloten - or something like that. And I had the steak, one of the best I've ever had. Your in for a real treat.
