Yes
terday, we hung out and washed the truck, took a small hike and looked for one geo in the park. Almost didn't find it, but another younger couple was also looking for it so he climbed the steep embankment and searched under a tree and found it. Larry was close, just didn't want to step off the edge. He'd gone up this way to look for it and looked back and told me not to come this way - duh! I took the path and went back around to the top.
We then proceeded to walk the entire trail.
Really a nice path if you don't count the Rat Snake
. However, I like snakes so it was OK with me. I think he'd just had the local buffet dinner because he was fatter in the middle and not moving at all.
Then we watched KU beat UNC - GO JAYHAWKS - ROCK CHALK JAYHAWKS!!!
"Everyone's somebody in Luckenbach" That's their motto and I could see how that works. It has a popul
ation of 3 so luck on your side that you'll turn out to be somebody. As Larry and I drove off the little county highway onto a small lane and headed for the town, we had almost driven past it before we realized that was probably Luckenbach. I had read that all that was there was the General Store/Post Office and the world famous dance hall. However, I expected a couple of other businesses along a block or two and maybe some homes. Nothing - absolutely nothing else but parking lots in fields. There was a small stage behind the general store, a shed with bathrooms and another shed that sold hats. But from the lane you couldn't see these things.
I included a picture of the history of the town so I don't have to type it all out. Just click on the picture to enlarge. These are picture of the inside of the post office/general store and to the right is th

e world famous dance hall. Pretty impressive.

There was a nice park across the creek from the "town" where they advertised full hookups for campers. We didn't think so but it would be nice for tenters or small campers. This tree picture was down from that park by a larger
creek. Says something about me that I rather we had a picture in front of a truly magnificent tree rather than in front of the post office.
We ate some concession stand types of food for lunch and then went to set in front of the stage for the afternoon entertainment. That was OK but definitely not Willie Nelson. We plan on going back again for some of the evening entertainment and see the world famous dance hall in action.
This was
a great place
for motorcyclists. The streets were almost a constant roar of bikers coming and going. Most were Harley's but there were crotch rockets, BMW's and several Gold Wings. The word in my photo was on the back of a Gold Wing. The plate was kinda cute too--didn't see the rider.
And the roads leading in and out of the area are a bikers dream. A really beautiful area.
Came back to town about 4:00 and found a Mexican restaurant, Mamacitas in among all of this German food. Actually it was right next to the Double Jade Island that I'm guessing is an oriental restaurant. Finally got a burrito - first one in a long, long time.
Tonight, we cheer on the Lady Vols. Note that I had my Lady Vols T-shirt on while at Luckenbach.
