March 5: Livingston, TX - Escapee Campground

The night before we left Corpus Christi, a bunch of us went to the Silverado Smokehouse for dinner. It was really, really good. Goodbyes were said the next morning and that was really, really sad. I'll miss my "Tom Hugs" but maybe Larry will pick up the slack; or my grandsons when I get home.

Gypsy didn't travel well. She was in the truck with Larry when we first started out. She hid in some corner and we had a hard time finding her when we stopped for lunch. We left her and Buster in the camper for the rest of trip - because, again, we couldn't find her. When we got ready to put out the slides, I found her beside the bed, backed into a nice little cubby hole. It was a long time before she finally came out.

We have already done one happy hour and a
swiss steak dinner held at the activities center. Larry got to play pinochle Wednesday night and will again tonight. Probably next Monday too. We're thinking of leaving Tuesday. Still nothing definite yet.

The TV here is strictly local and not much available here in the piney woods. We get CBS and ABC but both are snowy. I'm getting a lot of reading done and Larry plays hearts on the computer. We're trying to walk more so maybe my back will get better. I'm usually awake by 7:30 every morning with my back and may get another hour's sleep if I'm lucky. I'm really hoping walking will help.

We washed the car, truck and front of the trailer today. I also cleaned the windows on the trailer. We really like this campground. Everyone is really friendly. Even the lady that checked us in came from around the counter and gave us both a welcome hug. They welcomed us at happy hour and when we leave, they'll all say goodbye at happy hour.

The wi-fi here is payable by the day, week or month. I paid $3 for 24 hours and have to come to the manager's office to use it. So I have until 3:00 pm tomorrow to play. Will probably get another 24hours Sunday or Monday to update the blog again. Wanted everyone to know that we're here and well. Can't use Skpe because it would anoy other people here in the same room.

We don't have any great plans for our week here. Not really a lot of historical stuff to see but will probably drive over to the lake and maybe do a couple of geo's. I'll let you all know Sunday or Monday how the week's gone.
