Feb. 26: Back In The Saddle Again
After almost 3 1/2 weeks and about $400 later, I now have a computer with a fan accessory attached to the bottom. We sent it in to Best Buy because the left fan was out (right one worked great) and was slow coming up. The service center in Louisville, KY sent it back with neither fan working. They did say that the left side USB ports heated up and we had a heat sinc problem - duh. FANS DIDN'T WORK - HELLO!!! Now with the attachment (purchased from another computer store) the lap top runs cool - yeah!!! Now for a few updates. I did keep notes and will try not to bore you with too many details. I will use this as my diary so that's why I try to keep up on what we're doing. Years from now when I look back on this I'll be able to see what we did and how much we ate and ate.
January 27th, we were visited by my cousin Connie and her husband, Dave. They were on their way to the valley to meet up with a group of 10 more happy campers and would then lead them on to the southern tip of Mexico. They'll be gone 2 months. Here they are in front of the Big Tree.
On January 31st, us girls all decided to do a group breakfast in the rec hall. Each of us did something different. Claire and I cooked pancakes. It was great and good food was eaten by all.
Larry called Bingo that night. He didn't get razed too badly and he really did quite well. (Notice he's wearing his glasses.)
Larry and I took a group out Geo Caching. Pete and Judy from Minnesota and Rick and Mary from Topeka, Kansas. I think we converted some more folks into this fun game.
The Super Bowl Party was Feb. 1st and we were pretty well divided on who we rooted for. We all brought finger foods just in case we were to get hungry which I'm starting to think is pretty hard to do in this group. Of course the 3D at half time was enjoyed by some of us who had the special glasses. (They didn't really appreciate my flash going off.)
We had a dine out at Texas Road House for supper and then lunched at Super Salad and Jason's Deli on other days. Went to On The Border with a couple from Iowa, Ed and Caroline. They are "work kampers" and much loved by all here in the park.
We had movie night with a DVD of John Pennita a comedian that was extremely funny. I'm not sure, but I think Larry dozed off during the showing even with all of us laughing.
We were back to swimming by Feb. 9th and hope to keep it up until we leave Tuesday, March 3rd.
I started physical therapy on Feb. 11 for my back. They have me doing about 30 minutes worth of exercises on the floor, 3 times a day, every day. So far, not much improvement. I'll keep up the exercises, but will scale back to twice a day, every day until the end of March when they said I could go to once a day, 3 times a week. Something to look forward to. My best guess at this point in time is that I'll have to have an MRI when I get back to Wichita to see what's really happening.
Several of us attended a Pink Hockey Game on Feb.
13th for breast cancer awareness. It was really cool to see the pink ice. The players from Corpus wore pink jerseys and had pink sticks (which they auctioned off). They brought in a pink limo with 3 cancer survivors and we saw their stories during one of the period breaks. They raised $35,000 that night.

More to follow: A Valentine's Party and a field trip to Goliad (and more dine outs).
